Supplier requirements

The quality of our feed is inextricably linked to that of the raw materials from which it is made. We therefore place high demands on our partners in production and logistics. Because only safe and high-quality raw materials become high-quality and safe feeds for animal consumption. Exemplary manufacturing practices and careful handling of raw materials are therefore key conditions that each of our suppliers fulfils.

CERTIFIED RAW MATERIALS

As part of thecertification of our locations according to the standards of the Quality and Safety System (QS System), the manufacturers and suppliers of the raw goods we process must also have the corresponding certificates:

Traders of cereals, legumes and oilseeds

  • Certified according to theQuality Assurance System (QA) for traders.
  • Certified according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) B2, GMP B3 or GMP-Belgium.
  • Certified according to Good Trading Practices Code (GTP) for drop shipments of grain, legumes and oilseeds.

Manufacturers of other raw materials are

  • certified according to QS for the production of straight feeding stuffs or
  • the delivery authorisation is based on the recognition of a corresponding quality standard such as GMP or GMP-Belgium by QS and the listing in the QS database.

We only process high-quality goods. Raw materials that reach us must always be transported in such a way that they cannot come into contact with undesirable substances or otherwise be affected during their journey. For this reason, the loading areas of the transport vehicles carrying goods destined for us must always be clean, dry and free of residual material from previous loads.

Transporters ofbulk raw materials must therefore have the following certifications:

  • a certification according to thequality assurance system (QS) or
  • a quality standard recognised by QS such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) B4 or GMP-Belgium if the company is listed in the QS database.

In addition to the high legal requirements, the quality assurance systems contribute significantly to achieving a high quality standard. Additional quality criteria are defined for the various ingredients and the finished feeds, as well as their regular monitoring. Compliance with these criteria is an absolute prerequisite for obtaining the corresponding certificates and is regularly checked by independent and accredited certification bodies.

In addition to these measures, every supplier, every forwarder and every raw material at Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer must undergo an internal approval procedure. In this process, it is checked whether the supplier and the products and services produced, manufactured or traded by him/her meet the legal requirements and our quality requirements that go beyond them. In this multi-stage process, a risk classification is carried out for the combination of supplier and raw material and, depending on the risk classification, a document check, product analyses and even an audit are carried out before the supplier is approved. Only when all test criteria have been positively approved is the product released and listed in our merchandise management system.

The products delivered to us are subject to constant checks in the incoming goods department, in the company's own laboratory and by accredited, independent testing laboratories. Quality-relevant parameters are recorded and evaluated for each delivery. The delivery quality of the individual suppliers is monitored by means of statistical evaluations and mapped in an assessment using a points system. A poor rating can lead to warnings, additional requirements for the delivery and even delisting.

With our system we ensure that the animals are always supplied with high-quality and safe feed.
