Düsseldorf, 31 August 2024 | Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer (DTC) is celebrating a special anniversary this year: the compound feed plant in Bramsche is 50 years old. To mark this special occasion, Germany's largest private compound feed manufacturer is inviting partners from trade, logistics and the workforce to the Mittelland Canal. Presentations on the history and current significance of the traditional site provide the framework for a relaxed day in a relaxed atmosphere. A sumptuous buffet and all-day factory tours round off this special event.
"50 years at the Bramsche plant: even for me, with more than 30 years of service, this is something very special," Ralf Heckmann, Head of Sales and Administration Sales Office Bramsche. "Our Bramsche plant is closely intertwined with the people in the region. As an important contact point and supplier for farms, we are responsible for more than 3,000 customers and thousands of animals in the south of Lower Saxony. At the same time, we are an important employer and training centre for the Weser-Ems and Westphalia regions. That fills us with pride - every day!"
Celebrations on the company premises in Bramsche-Achmer
Over 200 guests were invited to Bramsche-Achmer to celebrate the anniversary in style. Partners from trade and logistics, current and former employees and their families as well as the company's management and executive board were invited. Prior to the relaxed part of the day, Thomas Bernsmann, Managing Director of Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer, Jörg Götzen, Head of Technology & Production, and Ralf Heckmann, provided those present with interesting facts about the location, its history and current significance for Germany's largest private compound feed manufacturer. This was followed by an informal get-together in a cheerful atmosphere. Guided tours of the plant were organised throughout the day, offering a glimpse inside the huge facility.
Increasing livestock farming in Lower Saxony marks the birth of the Bramsche plant
The birth of the DTC plant in Bramsche can be traced back to the rapid growth in livestock farming in the region in the 1960s and 1970s. Rising sales in the highly intensive processing areas led to the existing production capacities at DTC (then "deuka Deutsche Kraftfutterwerke") being fully utilised. This was remedied by the construction of a modern plant on the Mittelland Canal with impressive production capacities. Initially, the production facility located between the Düsseldorf headquarters and the Höltinghausen plant in Cloppenburg was only intended for the production of poultry feed.
Facts, figures and data on the production output of the DTC plant in Bramsche
Today, the Bramsche plant produces almost 1,000 tonnes of pet food - every working day. That is just under 230,000 tonnes per year. A large proportion of the compound feed production is for the pig sector. Here, at the heart of German pig farming, almost 80 per cent of the tonnage produced is used to feed piglets, sows and fattening pigs. Another focus of production is food for horses, rabbits, chickens and small animals kept privately. Bramsche is one of five DTC sites that has a system for filling feed bags.
Modern plant with a proud tradition
Despite its long and successful past, the Bramsche plant is still one of the most modern production facilities of Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer. The reason for this is the regular conversion and modernisation work that characterises its operating history. The latest achievement is a new bagging plant inaugurated in March - the most modern in the entire company. As if that were not enough, the company management is also continuing to invest in the traditional site just outside Osnabrück. Further innovations within production are already planned for 2025.
Important employer in the Weser-Ems and Westphalia region
Today, a total of 59 employees work at the Bramsche site. As a training company, the plant is also interesting and attractive for training young people as industrial clerks and mixed feed millers (m/f/d). The working atmosphere in Bramsche is more than impressive: The DTC employee with the longest service record of all 800 employees has been working at the Achmer plant for 42 years.
