New bagging plant in Regensburg successfully commissioned
22.06.2026 – The new bagging plant in Regensburg has been operating successfully since the end of April. Following around a year of planning and two months of refurbishment, the plant – which was around 40 to 50 years old – has been completely replaced. The modernisation has doubled the bagging capacity, whilst a new plant layout and the switch to sewing ensure cleaner and more efficient processes. The new bagging line at Regensburg Plant 1 replaces the previous, outdated system and significantly increases throughput in day-to-day operations. Thanks to the larger opening and the switch from valve closure to stitching, the bagging process is faster and cleaner. Particularly noteworthy: compared with the previous technology, output has doubled from approximately 600 bags (25 kg) per hour to up to 1,000 bags (25 kg) per hour. With this investment, the company is specifically strengthening the site to cope with rising sales volumes.

Resource-efficient production through reduced waste
The new plant is based on the same technical concept as the plant already successfully in operation in Bramsche. This has enabled tried-and-tested processes to be adopted and further optimised. A key advantage is the reduced amount of product loss during bagging. The larger opening and the switch to sewing further speed up the bagging process and improve process cleanliness.
In future, standardised sewn bags will also be used at several sites. This standardises the packaging processes and reduces the consumption of plastic and packaging materials. Energy consumption is also lower compared with the old plant.
New bagging system ensures efficient and precise packaging processes
One year of planning, two months of refurbishment
Implementing the project required an intensive preparation phase. Planning took around a year before the project team replaced and reinstalled the existing system within two months. Many internal departments worked closely together on this, including Engineering and Production (T&P), operations and plant management, the metalworks shop, the electrical department, the production staff and the bagging team in Regensburg. Cooperation with the contractors involved was also very successful and contributed significantly to a smooth commissioning process. Together with Düsseldorf and Bramsche, Regensburg is now one of the company’s most efficient bagging sites.
