This year's special cattle training programme brought together 51 participants in Dresden. The varied programme combined technical input and practical insights with joint discussions and impressions of the Saxon state capital. The programme kicked off with the arrival on the first day and a joint dinner at the hotel. In a relaxed atmosphere, there was an immediate opportunity for personal discussions and a first meeting with the team.

Focus on current challenges in cattle feeding

The second day began with a compact lecture programme directly at the hotel. After a welcome from the cattle product management team, the agenda included key topics in modern dairy farming. Among other things, cow signalling, animal health management and heat stress were highlighted - a topic that is becoming increasingly important in view of the increasing extremes of weather. Suitable feeding solutions were also presented.

Another technical highlight was the presentation by Prof Dr Alexander Starke from the Leipzig University of Veterinary Medicine (TiHo). The focus was on animal health management in dairy herds - with clear references to animal performance and the quality of the food produced.

Insights into practice on site

In the afternoon, theory shifted to practice: after a brief introduction, the participants travelled to the Dresden cow garden of Dresdner Vorgebirgs Agrar AG. During a guided tour, the participants were given specific insights into modern operating procedures and husbandry conditions. The direct link to practice offered the opportunity to reflect on and discuss the topics previously covered in a real-life environment. After returning to the hotel, a joint social programme rounded off the day. The intensive training day ended with a convivial evening meal. In addition to technical discussions, the focus here was on personal interaction.

"My highlight was definitely the visit to the cow garden. I found it particularly interesting to see the farm up close and to experience the modern processes directly in the barn. This really brought the topics we had previously discussed to life and put many things from the theory into a real context."

Developing together

On the third day, the participants travelled home after breakfast - with new ideas, up-to-date specialist knowledge and strengthened contacts in their luggage. The specialist cattle training course will therefore remain an important building block for the further development of our advisory expertise and close cooperation between the sales force and product management in 2026 .
