Long Night of Industry (LNDI) NRW
How pet food is made: Düsseldorf plant provides insights into production
On 30 October 2025, the Düsseldorf plant opened its doors for the first time for the "Long Night of Industry NRW". More than 50 interested visitors were given exciting insights into the world of compound feed production - from raw material reception to quality control. With presentations, plant tours and personal discussions, dedicated colleagues from many departments brought our "daily bread" to life.
The "Long Night of Industry NRW" is an initiative that brings industrial companies from North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) together with the public. Two groups of around 25 participants from Düsseldorf and the surrounding area were given an exclusive insight into the world of compound feed production.
Compound feed production today - as important as ever
In the opening speech, Georg Riewenherm, Head of Product Management Livestock, not only introduced our company, but also emphasised the central role of compound feed for the food supply. The importance of this industry became tangible for many visitors - an ideal start to an evening full of insights. The next stop was a look at the people behind the production.
People make industry - the value of training
Jaqueline Hold, HR employee and training coordinator, emphasised the importance of the colleagues behind the production steps to those present. Whether through appreciation in everyday life, participation in benefits or the continuous training and further education of young people to become the skilled workers of tomorrow: she made it clear that people matter at DTC.
This was followed by the part that the participants had been looking forward to for weeks: The tour of the DTC company premises.
From raw material to quality feed: tour around the factory premises
Divided into two groups, colleagues from Product Management and Technology & Production accompanied the guests on a predetermined route around the factory premises. The tour, which lasted around 75 minutes, symbolically followed the path of the raw materials - from the reception of the ship and raw materials, through processing and bagging, to the final quality control in the laboratory. The participants experienced at first hand how the best feed is produced from high-quality raw materials and how we at DTC ensure the highest standards through quality controls.
Florie Schepansky, Head of Human Resources"Industry thrives on dialogue and that's exactly what we were looking for - and found - on this evening. It was impressive to see how much interest there is in our work and at the same time how many colleagues got involved in the evening. So our conclusion of the evening was thoroughly positive."
