Lysine

Lysine is an essential amino acid and is produced in its pure form as L-lysine (D-form not biologically utilisable by animals) by microorganisms in fermenters. In the fermenters, these microorganisms are fed molasses, sugar, starch-containing products and nitrogen sources. The pure amino acid lysine is then separated via various stages and is available as L-lysine monohydrochloride (at least 78 % L-lysine). In animal nutrition, lysine is used as a single amino acid to ensure the supply of the animals depending on the type of feed and animal species.
