The foundations for excellent development in piglet rearing are laid before weaning. Piglets that are optimally prepared for the intake of solid food achieve the highest weights at weaning. In order to offer an all-round successful piglet rearing, deuka supplements its prestarter range with three special products. At the same time, the optimised recipe of the other prestarters improves the early feed intake of suckling piglets. This supports the development of an intestinal flora that can digest cereal- and thus starch-containing food particularly well. The new prestarters have been available nationwide since July.

"Early feed intake, high nutrient up take and the best possible formation of microflora in the intestine: this is what the revision of the deuka-Prestarter rangeaimed at," says Georg Riewenherm, Head of Product Management at Deutsche Tiernahrung Cremer. "This way, the digestive tract is trained in the best possible way before weaning. This means that the weaning phase for piglets is less stressful and with a less pronounced performance and feed intake deficit. Feeding with the optimised prestarters also leaves little room for pathogens."

Prestarter from deuka with a special structure mix

While the classic prestarters primo wean and primo plasma are available in the common structures granulated and granulated, deuka also relies on a structure mix for suckling piglets. primo DuoPower is intended as a meal/granulate mix to accustom suckling piglets to the first feed intake - quite playfully. "We have had very good experiences with the mix. The floury part sticks to the piglets ' snout and the small granulate pieces arouse their curiosity. This encourages the young pigs to try it and eat it," says Kristina Stärk, Pig Product Manager.

Prestarters and piglet milk for all feeding systems

The prestarters are available as bagged goods and partly as loose goods. But milk products for piglets specially designed for cup systems also have a firm place in the new range. primo milk and primo cream are specially coordinated products that can also be fed to very young piglets in liquid form via cups. On the other hand, the prestarter primo flow is suitable for supply via liquid feeding systems. The supply of these special products (primo milk, primo cream and primo flow) for feeding in liquid form takes place by the pallet from a minimum order quantity of 1,000 kg.

primo wean: Feeding test underlines quality

The revision of the prestarters was carried out taking into account the latest nutritional and physiological findings. The quality of the optimised piglet feed is underlined by recent feeding tests. The study with primo wean showed: piglets that received the improved version of the suckling piglet prestarter before weaning (day of life 7 to 21) showed a 16 gram increase in daily weight gain in the first 19 days after weaning and after the feed changeover to the first piglet rearing feed (FAZ) compared to piglets in the control group. This corresponds to a seven percent increase in daily gain. "With the help of the new prestarters, we are preparing the piglets' gastrointestinal tract even better for weaning and thus for the utilisation of solid food containing cereals. This is how sow farms lay the foundation for the optimal development of their piglets in piglet rearing," says Stärk.
