N-free extractives (NfE)

The N-free extract substances (NfE) are only recorded mathematically in feed analysis. They represent the difference between the dry matter and the sum of the analytically determined crude nutrients crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre and crude ash. The NFU contain alpha-glucosidically bound polysaccharides(starch, glycogen), soluble sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose, maltose and oligosaccharides) as well as soluble parts of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin and pectins (cellulose and lignin only in very small quantities). In total, the NFU thus comprise the carbohydrates, the main energy substances, of a feed.
