Maize pregelatinised starch

Maize pregelatinised starch is a product consisting of maize starch. The starch is largely broken down by heat treatment (hydrothermal treatment). The degree of starch breakdown is at least 50 %. This makes the starch highly digestible, especially for young monogastric animals. If the heat treatment is followed by suitable hydrolysis, the product is referred to as partially saccharified maize swelling starch. Analytically, the product must then have a content of at least 15 % reducing sugar.
