Corn gluten
Corn gluten is a by-product of starch extractionfrom corn kernels. Maize is degerminated in wet milling after a swelling process. After the husk is removed from the endosperm, mechanical cleaning takes place. In the process, the pure maize starch is extracted, the maize gluten (gluten protein) is separated and then gently dried. Maize gluten contains over 60 % crude protein with very high digestibility (> 90 %) and is used, for example, in mixed feedsfor young piglets (prestarters).
