Sunflower extraction meal

Sunflower extraction meal is a by-product of the extraction of sunflower oil from sunflower seeds for human consumption. The sunflower oil is obtained from the seeds by extraction. The protein-rich sunflower extraction meal remains. Before oil extraction, the kernels are completely or partially shelled. This determines the crude protein and crude fibre content ofthe meal. Sunflower extraction meal from peeled seeds contains approx. 40 % crude protein and approx. eleven % crude fibre, from partially peeled seeds approx. 33 % crude protein and approx. 20 % crude fibre. There are also sunflower meal qualities with even lower crude protein and higher crude fibre content. These ingredients also determine the use in animal feed. Sunflower extraction meal is used as a high-quality protein component in mixed feedsfor various animal species. At the same time, the component provides valuable dietary fibre via the crude fibre content.
