Wheat gluten feed

Wheat gluten feed is a by-product of starch extraction from wheat grains. Wheat is degerminated in wet milling after a swelling process. After the husk is removed from the endosperm, mechanical cleaning takes place. During this process, the wheat gluten (gluten protein) is separated and the pure wheat starch is obtained. Wheat gluten, the separated wheat husks and dried wheat spring water then result in the product wheat gluten feed. The product contains about 24 % starch and about 16 % crude protein. In animal nutrition, wheat gluten feed is primarily used in compound feed for ruminants(cows, cattle). However, due to good nutrient digestibility in the small intestine, it is also used in feed for monogastrics(pigs, poultry).
